In summer, we feel less guilty about guilty pleasures. And "Royal Pains" is just what the doctor ordered for a shameless seasonal fling: a cute doctor, his entertaining brother, the Hamptons, scantily clad snobs, and the estimable Campbell Scott playing a German billionaire - accent and all.

What's not to like?

Mark Feuerstein plays Hank, a hotshot emergency room doctor who gets buried in lawsuits when a rich patient dies. His fiancée leaves him and Hank would rather wallow in his misery, but even Netflix has frozen his account.

So his brother Evan - the roguish Paulo Costanzo - drags him out of his apartment and to the Hamptons for a debauched bash at. "A guy's flying in ice from Antarctica just for the cocktails!" pleads Evan.

It does look like a good party. I spotted at least one reject from "America's Next Top Model" in attendance. Her big line: "What kind of plane do you have? And please tell me it's yours. I am so over fractional ownership."

But Hank's medical skills are required when a beautiful guest keels over on the leopard skin rug. He impresses the host - Campbell Scott - who invites him to spend the summer in his guest house/mansion. Hank is urged to free-lance as a "concierge doctor," a private doctor for hire. "It's all the rage for us elite folk," explains Scott. A doctor on demand, if you will.

Hank's brother, who is on the verge of a roman orgy with the entire cast of "Gossip Girl," wants him to do it. His wannabe assistant, played by Reshma Shetty, wants him to do it. Hank could expect to be paid in gold bars, dealing with medical emergencies like deflated breast implants, while grateful gold-diggers fall in love with him.

What's not to like?

And yet Hank valiantly tries to fight it, blathering something about "We are who we care for." But soon he's called back into duty, barking, "I need a bottle of vodka, a sharp knife, a pen, a baggie and some duct tape."

You can't fight destiny, Hank.

Here's hoping the good doctor settles into the guest mansion soon and starts enjoying his summer. Because we sure will.
